Italian coffee grinder manufacturer Mazzer has introduced two new grinder models, the ZM grinder and Super Jolly V Up, and a new type of automatic tamping device called T-Tamper.

Mazzer ZM is built on a platform established by the vertically oriented, 83 mm flat burr ZM grinding machine released in 2017. It offers the same low-residue, single-dose friendly design as ZM.

However, where ZM is more suitable for filter and drip coffee preparation, as the grind enters a larger container, ZM includes an improved nozzle and movable filter holder to more accurately adapt to espresso preparation.

Silvia Marcato, product manager of Mazzer, told the Daily Coffee News: "With ZM, you will be able to grind a single dose directly into a mobile filter without spilling coffee grounds on the counter." The bracket folds down to secure the other accessories provided (for example) the bag holder and the tank to the grinder."

Earlier this year, Mazzer released the Super Jolly V Pro model, marking the 50th anniversary of its iconic Jolly espresso grinder, which introduced IoT connectivity options, programmable dosages, and various other new features to the platform .

The new Super Jolly V Up is the streamlined brother of V Pro. It is mechanically identical in terms of manual filter activation grinding, height-adjustable manual filter holder, static and clump mitigation, and other hardware functions.

Its main starting point is a less complex touch-sensitive digital interface, which skips wifi to support simplicity.

The new T-Tamper has been added to Mazzer's line of non-grinding equipment, which is an automatic tamping device that can apply a force of 10 to 35 kilograms to a bed of ground coffee in a handheld filter.

"It can press coffee with unparalleled weight consistency over millions of cycles," Marcato told DCN. "The accuracy of weight execution is provided by a load cell that feeds back the true force exerted on the filter during the pressing process."

Before T-Tamper, Mazzer's only tamper product was the manual lever-operated Easy Tamper, which was designed to be installed in the metering chamber of the grinder or independent of the optional base.

The two performance options of the new T-Tamper include "fast" and "precision", and the head of the tamper will rotate while pressing to dispense and self-cleaning its surface.

"In the past four years, Mazzer has redesigned its product range, focusing on efficiency, design appearance, consistency and ease of use," Marcato said. "We will further advance in this direction. Electronic functions and the Internet of Things will play an important role in helping baristas in their daily work."

All three products made their public debut at the HostMilano trade show held in Italy last month, and all three products will be put into production in the spring of 2022.
