The Yamaha MT-09 is not really an old motorcycle for an upgrade as early- and in fact the Yamaha MT-09 Street Rally Edition isn’t really an upgrade, but just shades and a few supermoto bits kitted into the new cylinder Yamaha. The Yamaha MT-09 Street Rally Edition is finished in Tech Graphite featuring a jazzy graphics package with accessory upgrades such as a headlight cover, fuel tank shrouds, knuckle guards, fork covers, Wider footrests, slimmer seat, side number plates and an engine underguard. Competing against pure-bred supermoto machines might be a distant imagination, but the aesthetics would definitely add to the street presence of the motorcycle.
Next in the list is the Yamaha MT-07, essentially a younger cousin of the Yamaha MT-09 featuring the same triple pod motor albeit in a reduced capacity of 689cc producing peak power of 73.8 bhp and maximum torque of 68nm.
The Yamaha MT-09 was introduced as an affordable offering and the new Yamaha MT-07 looks to further cater to the budget-minded segment. Featuring a non-adjustable basic telescopic fork setup clamped with calipers gripping the twin 282mm discs. Also the steel frame on the 2014 Yamaha MT-07 is slimmer and the wheelbase has been further reduced to 55.1 inches.
The Yamaha MT-07 would be available in five shades i.e. Racing Red, Competition White, Race Blue, Deep Armor and Matt Grey. Pricing hasn’t been announced, but with Yamaha aiming at the affordable motorcycle segment- as was the case with the MT-09, expect the MT-07 to be available at a competitive price.
