According to a report from the Wall Street Journal today, Google is building a "home entertainment system that can transmit music wirelessly throughout the family and will market it under the company's own brand." Although this move has not been confirmed by Google, it will be built on the basis of Google's music streaming service and music store.

It may also be integrated with Android-the Wall Street Journal described it as "Google's Android Entertainment System" in a paragraph and stated that it is being developed by Google's Android division and will be launched later this year. The Wall Street Journal quoted an anonymous source as reporting that the system “allows people to download digital media such as music and stream it to speakers made by Google or other connected devices in people’s homes” and can use smartphones or Tablet computer for operation.

Google is also targeting home media through Google TV, but with little success. "The Wall Street Journal" reported that in addition to music, the upcoming home entertainment system can also support streaming media, presumably including video. Among possible related initiatives, Google previewed its Android@Home project at last year's Google I/O Conference and asked the Federal Communications Commission to allow testing of entertainment devices with WiFi and Bluetooth capabilities in four cities in the United States.
