DZOFLIM released the full-frame Catta Cinema Zoom. They are available in 35-80 mm and 70-135 mm sizes. Both are T2.9. Since most T2.9 full-frame zooms are large, the heavy DZOFILM decided to use different materials to reduce weight.

The 35mm-80mm T/2.9 weighs 1.53kg, and the 70mm-135mm T/2.9 weighs less than 1.6kg. They chose to use polycarbonate and fiberglass on the shell, and they have tight tolerances.

DZOFILM said that the zoom lens is very portable and is an excellent choice for live performances, independent film production, car scenes, and documentaries. Due to their light weight, they should work well with gimbals such as Ronin s2 and Crane 3s.

Both zooms have 16 blade apertures and an aperture range of T2.9-T2. DZOFILMM means that Catta will produce circular and smooth bokeh, with a natural transition of the image. They have a close focal length of 0.74m/2'5" at 35-80mm and 0.76m/2'6" at 10-135mm, and they barely breathe.

The manual focus range is 270°, and the operation experience is smooth. The mechanical and optical structure of the two lenses are the same. The homodyne combination of wide-angle and telephoto allows users to quickly change lenses without changing the position of the follow focus and frosted box during use.

The lens adopts a 77mm front filter design and a rear filter slot, allowing users to quickly add and replace filters, such as ND/UV/Streak/Mist filters.

Both lenses are shipped with the E mount. Additional mounts can be purchased for RF / L / Z / X mounts. A good feeling is that the mounts are quick-release, no screwdriver is needed to replace them.

These lenses can be ordered now and will start shipping in mid-December. The price of each Catta lens is US$3,099, and if you buy the kit for US$5899, you can enjoy a discount of US$299. If you need mounts other than E-mount, they cost $59 each, and if you buy them in bundles, you need $99 to get two.

DZOFILM will launch a black metal body version with PL/EF mount in 2022. They stated that the lens will not be compatible with the white mirrorless version.
