Former Call of Duty professional gamer Philip Johnson, also known as @thatselmo, announces today the launch of his lifestyle brand iGoofTroop. Named after his goofy industry friends, iGoofTroop offers face masks, bags, and apparel for its community fans and gamers.
In his early years, Philip transitioned from playing in tournaments to organizing LAN parties and gaming buses. As he moved on to become a content creator, he and his team of friends would compete in Call of Duty World League for hundreds of thousands of dollars up to $1 million. They traveled around the country, going to Florida, Texas, Miami, Vegas, and Atlanta. Later on, they also traveled the globe, visiting Paris, Toronto, and London to compete.
While some of these gamers still compete in the Call of Duty league and the challenger’s cup today, most of them have become video game creators. Aside from playing Call of Duty, they also play Grand Theft Auto (GTA) and Fortnite.
When Philip and his team members partnered with the gamers’ world lounge in Sacramento, California before COVID-19, they established a fully functioning game store. Unfortunately, when the pandemic hit, they had to close it down and change their plans. The team then decided to get another store where some retired professional gamers from all platforms would come and teach kids how to enter the professional gaming industry.
As the community grew, the team thought of creating merchandise that will bind them all together while showing their knack for eccentric fashion. The result was iGoofTroop, which was officially established in 2019. The community immediately identified with the name, supporting the brand and the quality items it offers.
iGoofTroop’s merchandise items are ideal for today’s gamers, especially now that onsite tournaments are back. One of its products, the Duffle Bag, is made of polyester fabric with black interlining with a spacious interior. It also has an adjustable and removable padded shoulder strap that helps users carry heavier things. Its mesh side pocket and multiple inside pockets organize phones and accessories. These features make it a great companion to take while traveling, running daily errands, or going to the gym.
Another notable item from the brand is its Troop Mask which features a snuggle fit with adjustable nose wire and elastic bands to close air gaps around the face, offering safety and protection. It is also made from 100% super soft polyester microfiber which makes it washable and reusable. The brand also placed a pocket on the masks to leave space for a filter or napkin.
